Kids Get a Free Re-Spool of Mono in Volusia County
A New Smyrna Beach marine dealer is offering free re-spools of monofilament to kids 16 years old and younger as part of their Help a Kid to Fish program.
It’s pretty easy to do. Kids, bring in a rod and reel with a lineless spool, and get your choice of 8-, 10-, 12-, 15- or 25-pound-test monofilament. It’s all part of New Smyrna Beach-based Diamond Suzuki’s Help a Kid Fish program. Come in with no line, leave with a spool filled with saltwater-grade monofilament.
“It’s our way of giving back to the community,” says Marty Johns, Vice President of Diamond Suzuki. “[This program] gives kids everything they need to go fishing.”
Along with a free re-spool of line, kids get a free grab bag of assorted fishing equipment. Contents can include hooks, floats, lures, swivels and other basic tackle.
Kids, accompanied by parents, can pick up tackle at the parts counter Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Diamond Suzuki is located at 911 N. Dixie Freeway (U.S.1) in New Smyrna Beach.
