Historical Museum of Southern Florida Presents Fish Tales
Be audience to a panel of South Florida angling pioneers, and listen to their stories.
Thursday, October 18, the Historical Museum of Southern Florida will present Fish Tales, Stories of Recreational Fishing in South Florida. The panel with moderator begins at 6:30, and is expected to last until 8:30. Quite a cast of characters will be there to tell their stories, says the museum’s Education Manager Cecilia Slesnick.
Participating in the event are Capt. Bill Curtis, Capt. Jim O’Neill, Al Pflueger Jr. and Norman Duncan. A question-and-answer session at the finale will give audience members a chance to talk to these legendary South Florida anglers.
Recreational fishing in South Florida has a long and rich history, and this is a chance to experience it. The free one-night program, Fish Tales, is in conjunction with the current Water Stories exhibition at the museum. The exhibit, which is on display through January 20, 2008, also has its share of fishing-related history. Catch a sailfish using a fishing simulator as part of the exhibit.
The Historical Museum of Southern Florida is located at 101 West Flagler Street in Miami, www.hmsf.org.
