Early in July, officials closed the Pompano Beach pier, after a company that leased the property abandoned the deal. With the pier in good shape, many anglers were incensed that it was closed to the public only because of business reasons. But, the pier re-opened Christmas week, just in time for peak pompano season.

The pier, which is on Pompano Beach Blvd., also includes parking, restrooms and a concession area.
