Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission issues reminder of rules.
The recreational season for red snapper opens April 15 in Florida waters and in the Gulf of Mexico. The season opens April 21 in Gulf federal waters. Florida waters extend nine nautical miles offshore, and federal waters extend beyond state waters. Red snapper must be at least 16 inches to keep, and a four-fish-per-person daily bag limit applies. Recreational season ends Nov. 1 to give over-fished red snapper stocks in the Gulf a chance to recover.
