Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) expects to fund more than $3.5 million in grants next year to improve recreational boating and related activities on coastal and inland waters. Eligible participants for the FWC’s Florida Boating Improvement Program include this state’s county and municipal governments. Other governmental entities must apply through their counties or municipalities for consideration. The application deadline for fiscal year 2006-07 grants is June 2. Since the 2004-05 fiscal year, the FWC has awarded $5,134,312 for 45 projects throughout the state. The funds are earmarked for boat ramps, channel markers, piers and other projects.
