Wilma backs up boat repair work in South Florida.
Spring is only a few months distant, time to begin readying your boat for next year’s fishing season. And if you live in South Florida, this prep time could slip away faster than you ever imagined.
Seems that many boat yards are booked well into next year, trying to catch up on boat repairs caused by Hurricane Wilma. And the bigger your boat, maybe the longer the wait, according to an article in the Miami Herald.
Typical lead time for many Miami/Fort Lauderdale yards is six months or more. Not surprising when you consider the latest Wilma damage estimate of $252 million for recreational boaters compiled by The Boat Owners Association of the United States (BOAT US). FS
