Rita Doesn’t Slow Down DEP
Some Keys parks already open, while others remain closed.
DEP announced on Wednesday the re-opening of its Marathon branch office and five of its state parks, only days after Hurricane Rita passed very near the Keys. Eight state parks and trails remain closed, however. Offices and parks now open include: South District Marathon Branch Office State Parks (5): Dagny Johnson Key Largo Hammock State Park San Pedro State Park Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park The Barnacle State Park Oleta River State Park Coastal & Aquatic Managed Areas (4): Key West Office Marathon Office Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary Biscayne Bay Environmental Center FS |
