Changes to Lee County Manatee Zones
FWC Commissioners vote for three changes in proposed Lee County manatee regs.

Boaters and fishermen traversing Lee County can’t haul, but don’t have to crawl.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commissioners have approved proposed boat speed rules for Lee County, but insisted on three changes.

All of Hendry Creek will be a year-round 25-mph zone instead of the original proposed seasonal slow speed/25 mph on the lower portion of the creek.

Peckney Bay will be a year-round 25-mph zone, instead of the seasonal slow speed/25 mph zone proposed for the lower part of the bay.

Redfish Point in the Caloosahatchee River will be a year-round slow speed zone with speeds to 25 mph allowed in Intracoastal Waterway channel.

The regs should be on the books with enforcement beginning sometime near the end of August. For more details, maps of zones and to read the entire Lee County manatee rules, visit: http://myfwc.com/manatee/Notice%20of%20Change%20(Lee%20Jul-05).pdf
