If you are a tarpon angler who enjoys solitude, steer clear of Boca Grande Pass this Saturday, and any Saturday, for that matter. However, if are an angler who enjoys the circus-like atmosphere of famed Boca Grande Pass during tarpon season, or you are simply a fishing groupie, hitch up your boat and head for the “big pass” this Saturday where the TV cameras will be rolling right along with the incoming poons.

The Professional Tarpon Tournament Series is holding the first of five qualifying events in the Pass this Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon. The Nextel Professional Tarpon Tournament Series will field 50 boats, and according to tournament anglers pre-fishing the Pass this week, the bite is coming on strong.

But if you don’t have the…well, let’s just say enough nerve to get into the middle of the fray, you can always watch the proceedings from the safety of your easy chair by tuning into the Sun Sports Network beginning July 1.
