Treasure Coast Fishing Challenge Set for June 4
Unique recreational fishing center at Florida Oceanographic Society will soon be one tournament closer to completion.
A 3/4-million gallon gamefish lagoon stocked with snook, trout, redfish, tarpon and other saltwater species, grounds designed to accommodate anglers and host fishing seminars and clubs—these are just a few of the draws of the soon-to-be-completed Treasure Coast Fishing Center.
A portion of the funding for TCFC comes through the FOS Challenge, an inshore fishing tournament that caters to family anglers and others who are fans of shallow-water angling.
This year’s tourney is scheduled for June 4 and it’s open to everyone—waders, shoreline casters, flats-boat fish stalkers and bridge bait soakers. The event kicks off with an anglers’ meeting followed by a day of inshore competition bounded by Jupiter Inlet to the south and Sebastian Inlet to the north.
You can fish live bait, dead bait or artificial bait—no matter. But you’ve got to capture your fish on film on a camera provided by the tournament committee for it to count. For more information on this fun-filled event visit www.floridaoceanographic.org or call Nancy Orton at (772) 225-0505, ext. 108.
Over a hundred anglers pitted their skill in friendly fishing competition during the last two tournaments and raised thousands of dollars in the process. Let’s keep a good thing going and rally around the tournament on June 2.
