Where To for Stripers and Hybrids
FWC announces top striped and sunshine bass honeyholes.
Cool weather prods many freshwater anglers to consider targeting other species. Two top alternates for Florida bassers are striped bass and hybrid bass, a.k.a. sunshine bass.
Both species can entangle you in a fight. The state record for stripers is 42¼ pounds for a fish landed in Apalachicola River in 1993. The state record for sunshines is 16.31 pounds. That fish came out of Lake Seminole in 1985.
FWC scientists predict that 2005 Florida anglers could tap into some awesome striper and sunshine fishing this winter. They’ve even assembled a list of top spots for both species. Apalachicola River heads that list, but is by no means the only destination for pursuing these tough gamefish.
