A Second for the Shallows This Dreamboat is easy on the flats, and even easier on the bank account. Larry Miller never realized that a boat could change his lifestyle—or rather, his fishing style. ... [+] Full Article
SeaStrike is incorporating Dakota boats into its product line and now offering fishing-focused 36-foot center console and cuddy cabin models. The boats are built at First Derivatives’ Stuart, FL facility using a proprietary vacuum resin infusion process, which manufacturers say produces a stronger, more consistent end product in a more environmentally friendly way. The 360 is 35 1/2 feet long with a 91/2-foot beam. It can be powered with three 250 hp outboards or twin 250 hps for $152,036, or $130,360, respectively. Top speed is 55 mph; range is 400 miles. Starting with all 2005 models, SeaStrike doubled its five year limited hull warranty to 10 years. The boat features front and back fish boxes with combined 344 gallons of volume, and a 38-gallon livewell. Contact SeaStrike at (954) 566-6320, or www.seastrikeboats.com.
Gordon Boatworks 18' Waterman
Gordon Boatworks reintroduces the 18' Waterman, one of the lightest skiffs in its class, formerly produced by Hell’s Bay Boatworks. Manufacturers claim it draws only 3 1/2 inches fully rigged. The boat features fully cored vacuum bagged construction for lightweight strength. It comes with a poling platform, a forward casting deck, and considerable storage for a craft its size. Manufacturers recommend a 50 hp tiller steering, 2-stroke outboard. Synthetic rod holders also give more support to the gunnels. A livewell fits between the back hatches. Southport Boat Works
Southport Boat Works introduces a 26-foot, 6-inch center console with 9 1/2 feet of beam for adequate buoyancy to support two, 250 hp 4-stroke outboards. The hull has a wide, flared bow, a 22-degree deadrise and the composite transom has a slight reverse and tumblehome. Engineers claim the time to plane with the 225 four-strokes is only 2.5 seconds. The standard lean bar/livewell houses a 45-gallon raw water livewell system with aft-facing seat. The aft deck has a removable, insulated fishbox that allows access to the seacocks, pumps and transducer mounting areas. Recommended retail price with 225-horsepower four-stroke engines is $118,810.
