Southwest
Sarasota to Bonita Beach
Nov. 21-23 SW Offshore: Rough, cold, snotty , weather and windy high seas kept most sensible crews close to shore. Sarasota-Englewood: You could catch some nice fish when the waters warmed a bit by midmorning. There were some sightfishing opportunities in the potholes and creeks as the bays emptied and the warm further warmed up. Not easy but doable. Port Charlotte: The big bay was mighty nasty much of the week. There were some fair opportunities by midmorning to work the potholes and dark bottom areas. The creeks and rivers are holding good mixed bag biters. Dress in layers and bring a jug a hot Joe and some high energy snacks, you’re going to need ‘em. Ft. Myers: We made our way out a couple a times by 8 a.m. in Estero Bay and had good redfish bites in the creeks, canals and around the bars by midmorning. There were some nice out of season trout and keeper pomps, Spanish and blues. There were some upper slot reds and legal snook taken in the passes. The bite was fair to good up in Pine Island Sound but you had to find a spot or two out of the wind. The Ding was a nice place to be and had a nice mixed bag bite. The Matlacha feeder creeks held good mixed bag biters. The weekend may be more inviting but the weather has been 10-15 degrees colder than typical at this time of year. By Capt.
