Wabasso Beach to Boca Raton
Includes Vero Beach, Ft. Pierce, Stuart, West Palm Beach and Lake Worth.

March 12-14

Wabasso Beach to Stuart

Now that grouper are off limits, they are being caught like crazy. At least there are still good numbers of lane and mangrove snappers to catch on the artificial reefs closer in. The big news however continues to be the phenomenal cobia bite. Commercial spear fishermen and recreational anglers both have been catching them in good numbers.

Plenty of pompano and ladyfish are being caught inside the rivers, while Spanish mackerel continue to make a strong showing on the coast. Bluefish will be around for a few weeks yet and the sharks are hard to avoid. Water is still pretty cold but trout and redfish are still being caught.

Jupiter to Lake Worth

Pompano and bluefish are moving south, plus there are tons of Spanish mackerel to catch. Spinner sharks are almost impossible to avoid. Use cut bait for the fastest bites. Big jacks are eating jigs and shrimp at Lake Worth Inlet.

Sailfish are still being caught, but it is the outrageous kingfish bite that is keeping everybody busy. There are also good numbers of cobia still being caught around rays and sea turtles. Muttons are biting but most are small.

Boynton to Boca

Capt. Al LeBrun on the Lady K reports outstanding kingfish action both morning and afternoon, with dead sardines the bait of choice. He says muttons are biting—but like to the north—they must be measured and many released. If you want bites, drop a live bait on the artificial reefs.

With all the cobia around, fish live crabs from the jetties or throw jigs around turtles. Live shrimp will catch a variety of fish inside including ladyfish, sand perch and black drum. Snook are biting under the lights at night but must be released.
