Wabasso Beach to Boca Raton
Oct. 3-5 Southeast WABASSO BEACH TO STUART With plenty of debris still present out past 600 feet of water there are still some big dolphin around but plan on burning some fuel in the process. Thanks to recent swells and freshwater releases water has been extremely dirty inshore of that and it has affected the bottom fishing greatly. Kingfish fortunately aren't so particular but the biggest fish will still be closer to shore shadowing the mullet schools. The mullet run of course is in full swing with tons of bluefish in the surf and all sorts of predators slightly further out including sharks, tarpon, spanish mackerel and even a few giant redfish. Snook are also being found from the jetties and in the shadow lines of just about all of the larger bridges. Trout will still be on the grass beds but the water is so dirty thanks to pulse releases that the bite has droppped off precipitously. JUPITER TO LAKE WORTH Mutton and yellowtail snappers have still been present on the reefs but many have been too short to keep for dinner. Dolphin have been present further offshore but most boats have been staying in close to take advantage of the mullet run. Sailfish will become more abundant as the weather cools, in the meanwhile, expect some of the largest kingfish of the season right in the midst of the bait pods. Action on the beach has been out of control with big jacks, tarpon, snook, sharks and all the bluefish you can handle. If it is calm during the day, expect the fireworks to start about midnight and to continue to dawn. John Currie caught a huge tarpon on a live mullet from the north jetty of Lake Worth inlet Monday and the snook have been crazy there as well. Even some big redfish have been caught, as George LaBonte predicted on the radio show this past Saturday. BOYNTON TO BOCA It is hard to believe anyone would even want to go offshore right now but at least a few dolphin have been present, thanks to an abundance of floating objects offshore. There has also been a steady supply of small blackfin and skipjack tunas out past 300 feet of water. I like to troll small swimming plugs but feathers will do just about the same job. Sailfish will become more numerous as the weather cools and bait moves south. The hardest part is forcing youself to wake up early in the morning but the rewards are certainly worth it. Personally, I like to fish with some sort of jig like a Red-Tailed Hawk but any soft plastics work just as well. Bluefish are a bother though but at least that means plenty of action. Snook and tarpon will be most active at night, especially around the bridges spanning the ICW. Capt. Eden White 561 902 8170 By Capt.
