Naples to Flamingo
Includes Naples, Marco Island, Everglades City and Chokoloskee

September 18-20

Tournament time! So I’d like to take a good portion of this forecast to go over a few upcoming regional fishing tournaments. The Romp in the Swamp that is hosted out of Port of the islands Resort is coming up next weekend. This tournament is an absolute blast and great for all levels. A lot of the best of the best guides in our area join in on this, but have no fear, it’s just fishing! It’s such a fun event because of the traditional format of it being a slam tournament, so you need a redfish, a snook and a trout. The longest combination of inches will win. They typically give you a measuring board and it’s a photo and release tournament, so it’s very healthy for the fish too. There is also another great family fishing tournament out of Goodland Boating Park on the weekend of October 16th and 17th, that would be the Trex One Last Cast Tournament. The Trex follows a similar theme to the Romp with the photo release red, snook, and trout. As a matter of fact both of these tournaments offer one of my favorite sports, the fly fishing division. It’s really a true test of angling ability to go out there and slam up on a fly rod! Speaking of which that lower incoming water in the mornings around 9:30 and lasting until about noon to 1pm will make for some great fly fishing opportunities this weekend. That water gets too high and the fish get back in the trees, you know the drill, it’s not easy to see fish in high water. Well tropical storm Sally totally ruined my reputation on good weather reporting last weekend. So far, Saturday does look to be a beautiful day 20% chance of rain wind North Northwest 5 to 10-miles an hour. Sunday is calling for a 60% chance of rain, with higher winds winds 10 to 20 miles an hour from the North/Northeast. I’ll keep you guys updated as these tournaments arrive. Right now check out The Romp in the swamp and the Trex on Facebook or here. at
