Offshore

Snapper season opens this weekend!

A limit of one per person per day during the four day season. Wrecks and natural bottom starting from three miles to 30 are wide open for red snapper, with the deeper wrecks giving better chance for larger fish. Top baits are frozen Boston mackerel, to be on the safe side, but live bait could be a step better. Kingfish have been better from Jacksonville Beach Pier, North with more Southern waters being slow. Live pogies best for kingfish free lined over wrecks within 15 miles. Tarpon are schooling in surf areas early mornings and taking live pogies either free lined or under a float.

Inshore

Flounder are taking live mud minnows dragged on the bottom near rocks or wood pilings. Best action is everything east of the Intracoastal especially near inlets. Redfish schooling early on falling tides taking topwater lures. Live shrimp on a jighead or popping cork fished around grass great for high water redfish. Have a safe weekend on the water.
