Fishing this week for snook, jacks, and tarpon should be your main focus. Currently, lots of glass minnows are in our river and along our beaches. Find feeding fish in schools of glass minnows, then make casts with smaller artificial lures for desired bites. Live bait fishing for snook will provide lots of action closer to inlets.

This week we’ve been bombarded with lots of small mahi. Be sure to measure properly. These fish are required to be 20-inches from the fork of the tail to the forward most part of the head. Not total length. There have been lots of sails mixed in with them, as well. Most of this action has been from 70 to 120-feet deep. Look for edges, weedlines, and color changes to be holding fish. Trolling or drifting live baits seem to be producing better action this week. Bottom fishing has been excellent for snapper and amberjacks. Live baits on the bottom will be your best bet for bigger fish.
