Port St. Joe to Keaton Beach
Includes Apalachicola, St. George Island, Carabelle, St. Marks and Keaton Beach
As of yesterday the State of Florida has yet again set another red snapper season in Gulf waters. in 2020 recreational fisherman or as I prefer to call it the “non commercial season will span from June 11th to July 25th. I know many of you do not think this is enough days, but we have 15 more than last year.
To continue efforts to improve data and help us to get even more days on the water please fill out your reef fishing surveys and report to the state. They tell us it is working. Triggerfish retention will begin on March first.
It is going to be chilly this weekend and next week so fishing might slow down again. Vermillions and Porgies are thick on the structures and there have been a few sheepshead showing up as well.
On the beach put in your time and you might just land yourself a nice keeper redfish. There was a report of another sturgeon caught near Port St. Joe last week. That’s two that I know of this winter. Whiting are out in force as well. Good Luck and be safe, but most of all have fun.
