January 31 – February 2

Inshore

Fishing this week has been excellent. Sheepshead are spawning locally, so fishing structure will produce larger fish while fishing with shrimp or fiddler crabs. Nice black drum, croaker, redfish, weakfish are also in the mix while fishing the bottom with live shrimp. Snook fishing has been slow due to cold water temperatures. Slow your presentation and fish closer to the bottom with baitfish for added snook bites.

Offshore

Sailfish should be the main focus this month. From 90 to 180 feet has been hot this week for trolling/kite fishing. Mahi, bonito, wahoo, and cobia are being caught while targeting sails, too. Bottom fishing has been excellent for large lane snapper, grouper, porgies, amberjacks, and cobia. The Six and Eight Mile reef systems are a great place to start. Throw a flatline out with a dead sardine for added kingfish bites.
