When it comes to versatility in a deck design, small details matter. Most importantly, the need to share equally, the amount of real estate you have to work with must be considered. If a boat requires lots of comfortable seating, the amount of clear working space for anglers moving around the deck will be lessened and vice versa. Setting a priority for one’s needs above another’s can be complicated and more than likely you’ll end up with people on one side of the argument feeling like they got the short end of the stick. In an effort to build a practical and versatile boat that combines a working deck layout with a comfortable seating configuration for social cruising, and packs both qualities into a sporty 24-foot center console; Glasstream seems to have hit the mark with their 240 CCX model.
The 240 CCX fits neatly into the combination “Poker Run/Fish/Sport” model that has served this company so well. At 24-feet in length, the 240-CCX offers a boater in search of the attributes available on the larger Glasstream performance models a similar deck design and racy presentation scaled back into an easy to trailer package that ahead of a single 150-HP outboard will offer 38-MPH cruising speeds while sipping a meager 8-GPH for 4.7-MPG fuel economy.
The 240 CCX features the Glasstream High Lift ventilated Step Hull with a high performance Set Back Molded Transom. The molded swim platform design offers an easy route into and out of the water and a stainless boarding ladder is standard equipment. The cockpit features a molded glass full bench seat across the transom from under which you can easily access your bilge mechanical systems. A pair of 15-gallon livewells are integrated within opposite corners of the transom and a classic rocket launcher/leaning post helm seat contains a fiberglass storage box for tackle and accessories as well as three across rod holders.
The 240 CCX console is deceptively large and despite its trim appearance provides abundant dry storage accessible through a forward lifting hatch beneath the contoured front passenger seat. The optional hard top with LED accent and map lighting provides plenty of shade and additional rod holders overhead. In the forward deck area, a smart division of space has been accomplished by using a low profile molded U-shaped bench design with foot space that allows you to easily stand on the foredeck and address a fish circling the bow of the boat, while still providing enough seat width for comfortable riding. Storage is available in three sections below the seating while an additional 200-quart wet box is built into the deck for fish storage. A raw washdown comes standard and a 20-gallon fresh water tank is available as an option.
Like every Glasstream model these boats are available in an array of color options including 14 hull color choices and graphics packages to choose from. Additional personal touches are available as well from underwater LED lighting to Audio Systems. Glasstream owners seem to have some things in common and having fun on a boat tops that list. The 240 CCX is a versatile economical family boat which makes accomplishing that goal that much simpler.
