Port St. Joe to Keaton Beach
Includes Apalachicola, St. George Island, Carabelle, St. Marks and Keaton Beach
This week we should see more of the same from the last two weeks. Cobia are showing in larger numbers but they seem to be concentrated to the West. Live eels or a pinfish are the best baits out there. Just a few more weeks until you can keep your two red snapper and with all the indications that I am seeing it should be a great season. Make sure you have plenty of live bait before heading out. This will certainly raise your odds.
Vermillion snapper and porgies are filling the fish boxes right now offshore. The occasional red grouper are also loading the boxes. Trout fishing in the bays has started to pick up with live shrimp being the go-to bait. We have not seen as many redfish as in the past weeks but still a few showing. Now is the time to be doing your scouting for the upcoming openers. Just like deer hunters, find some really productive spots so on opening day you are not having to search. Three or four good spots make the fishing day exciting.
