Boat Review - Crevalle 24 Bay

Boat Review - Crevalle 24 Bay
One of the original offerings from Crevalle, the 24 Bay remains immensely popular as a versatile family friendly platform.

For a startup boat company to enter an already saturated segment of the industry with a product that offers lots of competition, they better bring something of value to the table. Crevalle Boats offers several models to fill this role and the Crevalle 24 Bay, one of their original offerings remains one of their most popular to this day. What separates these boats from many others in the field and continues to lure buyers through the door for them are details and finish work. The 24 Bay is long on quality finish work and regards small details as an important measure of how to build a boat. Crevalle takes notice of the fact that while many people only see a “Bay Boat” as a tool for fishing, many more factors come into play for today's buyer such as family friendliness and versatility.

The Crevalle 24 Bay offers a boat that you can start the day on the water at first light, applying serious effort at fishing with all of the tools necessary to succeed, and be loading the family onto at lunchtime the same day for a ride to the sandbar or some cruising or watersports. By combining equal parts of both attributes they appear to have found a formula for success.

The 24 bay's deck configuration lends itself to a serious day of fishing by including many items the hardcore angler wouldn't be caught without. Starting with plenty of available working room both forward and aft, you'll find a pair of matching 28-gallon live/release wells below the rear casting deck. These insulated tanks also feature a clever Venturi system to inject additional oxygen into the water supply without the use of an oxygen bottle on board, a feature that proponents of carrying large supplies of whitebait will undoubtedly find useful. An additional well is located forward under the console seat for anglers on the bow to work out of without requiring repeated trips aft to reload a bait. A generous foredeck is roomy enough for two anglers and all 24 Bay models are pre-wired for trolling motor installation which is a perfect addition to this boat for inshore fishing. The foredeck quickly converts to a seating area with the addition of bow cushions for the cruisers in the family. Under the forward seating the 24 Bay includes lockable rod storage for 10 rods up to 7 feet 6 inches in length and the Port side locker is also insulated to double as a fish box if cold storing your catch is required. Beneath the center decks forward are three very large dry storage compartments each roomy enough to store all of the required gear for fishing activities along with any safety equipment or incidentals. An additional roomy dry storage option is found within the console.

Crevalle has recently added a new Helm Station design for this model which includes a PVC rather than vinyl based fabric to guard against “pink staining” which is common with light colored upholstery on boats. Nano technology anti-microbial properties also help fight off mildew staining and the entire upholstery set for the boat utilizes this material. The helm station includes rear tackle drawers and trays, a rigging sink with cutting surfaces as well as a pair of included soft coolers below which may be substituted with a single hard drink cooler. An additional drink cooler fits beneath the center located aft flip up seat across the rear platform. An elegant looking fiberglass hard top is offered in custom color combinations including a choice of four powder coat colors and 8 gelcoat options which can be combined to accent the top, tubing, helm face and hull sides to suit your individual tastes.

Start with a high quality standard in the finished appearance and styling and combine this with the use of top quality components and hardware along with a comprehensive list of options to bring this boat to a level that will make every member of the family happy and it's easy to see why this growing company has so many loyal fans.
