For the fishing family who wants a boat that combines comfort features with fish ability in a stylish, sporty looking package, this model has a lot to offer. Starting with the size of the boat, thirty feet of length does have its limitations when it comes to fitting everything the whole family might want or need on a boat in this class. Robalo has managed to pack so many features into a boat this size you’ll be sure it’s a larger boat. Lots of planning clearly went into the design and what strikes you immediately about it is that it doesn’t seem cluttered yet there are all of the options you expect to find on a much larger boat. The Robalo R302 fishes like a much larger boat than she is.
For the entire family to be happy you’ll likely have to divide features evenly between comfort and fishing function. As far as creature comforts are concerned the R302 does not disappoint. Plenty of comfortable seating is available in the bow at a wrap-around settee with a removable table in the center facing an extra wide forward console seat. A flip down bench across the transom and two-person helm seating provide additional options to ride from comfortably. The console features forward entry into a nicely finished Head with sink/shower that is as large inside (6’ 1” headroom) as you’ll find on any boat this size. The standard hard top provides plenty of shade mid-ship and features a wide open panoramic view through an unobstructed three-sided custom bonded windshield (glass) with a power opening overhead vent to let air flow through on hot days.
At the business end you’ll find a cockpit ready for blue water action. For the traditional outrigger style fishing fan this cockpit is open enough to move around freely while tending your spread without ever feeling closed in. Two live wells, 20 and 25-gallons are located aft as well as matching 200-quart fish boxes with overboard discharge pumps. The helm station features tackle storage drawers and a rigging station with a sink. From a performance standpoint the R302 is quick out of the hole, fast, and remarkably agile for a 29-footer with a 10.5’ beam.
The standard model comes equipped with just about every option (other than electronics and some custom paint options) you could add onto a boat straight from the dealer at a price point starting well below $150,000.00 which is value pricing for a real offshore machine in this class.
