The Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) Foundation and Evinrude have joined in a partnership with the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation (NPCF) to launch the NPCF’s newest program, ‘Fish for a Cure.’ This program combines the FLW Foundation’s mission to support the sport of fishing with NPCF’s mission to find less toxic, more targeted treatments for pediatric cancer by engaging all Americans to take a child fishing and support pediatric cancer.

NPCF, the FLW Foundation and Evinrude are encouraging participants to do three things: Take a child fishing, post pictures of the fishing trip on social media (don’t forget to tag NPCF, FLW and Evinrude), and encourage your friends, family, coworkers, etc. to donate to NPCF. For example: if you catch 10 fish, encourage everyone to donate $10, or $1 per fish. If you catch three 12-inch fish (36 inches total), encourage everyone to donate $3, $12 or $36.

NPCF, the FLW Foundation and Evinrude are proud to have FLW Tour angler Cody Kelley as the official spokesperson for the program. Kelley will be hosting FLW Foundation Unified Fishing Derbies all over the country and inviting children battling cancer to attend for a day of fun on the water.

“I encourage all anglers to get involved with this campaign,” Kelley said. “Together we can engage the spirit of anglers to apply their love of fishing to help kids with pediatric cancer.”

“While most cancer research focuses on adult treatments, NPCF funds clinical trials to fast track less-toxic, more targeted treatments for children,” said David Frazer, CEO, National Pediatric Cancer Foundation. “For NPCF, this natural partnership reinforces that raising awareness and funding cures for cancer is something anyone and everyone can participate in. We’re also very excited to have Evinrude’s support as the official outboard motor partner for this program.”
