Big payouts and big parties on tap for Final Sail in Key West

Final Sail in Key West

On April 25th, 2017, top fishing teams from around the country will arrive at Margaritaville Key West Resort & Marina with hopes of claiming the #1 sailfishing title in the world. Final Sail, the grand finale of the Quest for the Crest Sailfish Series, takes place in beautiful Key West, FL where the fishing is red-hot and the entertainment is even hotter. With a purse expected to exceed $900,000, teams are eager for a piece of the payout and the chance to make their mark in fishing history.

Currently in the lead for the series win and the coveted burgundy jacket is team Sandman with a total of 79 points. They finished strong in the first three legs of the series taking third place at Operation Sailfish, seventh place at Sailfish 400 and fourth place at Sailfish Challenge. Sandman will also be returning to Key West to defend their 2016 Final Sail victory where they nabbed a $260,000 payout. Advanced Roofing/Sailsmen sits in second place in the chase for the jacket with 71 points, followed by Miss Britt/Contender with 69 points, Contender One also with 69 points and De-Bait-Able with 63 points. It’s anyone’s game heading into the championship leg of the series with only a few points separating the top teams in the standings.

Over $1.9 million in prize money has been up for grabs over the last three legs of the series with the total series purse expected to exceed $2.7 million. Within the mega purse up for grabs at Final Sail is a $170,000 winner-take-all category called the Release Round Up and daily payouts in excess of $120,000 per day.

Major payouts won’t be the only attraction for teams at Final Sail in Key West. Great parties will provide plenty of action for anglers after lines out, too. The festivities start with a first class kickoff party hosted at Margaritaville Resort & Marina with beautiful Key West Harbor as the backdrop. Just a hop, skip and a jump away from Margaritaville is the world famous Duval Street where teams will party down for a pub-crawl of epic proportions following Day 2! The pub-crawl is strategically positioned on the eve of a fishing lay day to give teams plenty of recovery time prior to the final day of the competition. The reggae themed crawl includes stops at Margaritaville, Captain Tony’s Saloon, Irish Kevin’s and a final stop at the Smokin’ Tuna Saloon with a live performance by INNA SENSE reggae band. Anglers participating in the crawl will also receive a festive pair of sunglasses from tournament sponsor, Costa del Mar. Following the final day of competition, a post fishing pool party will take place from 4pm-7pm at Dante’s Pool Bar & Restaurant followed by a victory party at Irish Kevin’s on Duval Street at 9pm. Final Sail will wrap in the same place it opens with a 10am awards brunch on Sunday, April 30th at Margaritaville Resort & Marina, where a cash purse near $900,000 will be awarded and a new team will be crowned #1 in the world.

The last day a team can register is at the kickoff party on Tuesday, April 25th from 6pm – 9pm. Early entry, valid through April 4th, is $3,750 plus tax. Late registration fee is $4,500 plus tax. Competition days are April 26th, 27th and 29th, with a lay-day on April 28th. For more information on Final Sail visit www.finalsail.com or call (954) 725-4010.
