Plantation on Crystal River’s Inaugural Plantation Redfish Classic took place on Saturday, September 19 with 46 boats and 132 participants. More than $6000 was handed out in cash prizes which included first, second and third place for largest redfish, trout and grouper. Capt. Clay Shidler with Hang’em High Sport Fishing, Braxton Blitch with Team Woods/Blitch Fishing, and Paul Cross, Plantation on Crystal River’s Adventure Center and Dive Shop manager took home the $3000 first place prize for largest redfish.

A $2000 check was presented to One Rake at a Time Foundation, which cleans Lyngbya, a harmful blue – green algae, out of Kings Bay through the dedication and hard work of local volunteers.

Event sponsors included Sodium Fishing Gear, Young Boats, Home Depot, Unfair Lures, Nick Nicholas Ford, 96.7 The Fox, Citrus 95.3, Lecanto Veterinary Hospital, Homosassa Marina, Yamaha, Corona Light on Draft, and Bimini Bay Outfitters.
“We were thrilled with the turnout for the inaugural event and look forward to growing the tournament in the coming years at the premier angler’s resort in Citrus County,” said Michael Mancke, Plantation on Crystal River general manager.
