Daiwa Mag Sealed Technology

Curt Arakawa of Daiwa Corp. talks about their MagSeal technology used on their line of salt and fresh water spinning reels.

Magnetic oil is one of a new generation of Nano Fluids that can change density and shape when a magnetic field is applied. It creates an excellent, low-friction seal for a rotating shaft. To produce a low-friction seal that keeps water, dust and grit from entering the reel’s rotor bearing and gearing, magnetic oil is controlled by a magnetic field. The result is a water-tight seal with much lower friction than rubber type seals.

I have the Procyon 3000 and I beach fish with it. Dunked it by accident on Saturday and no issues so far. I have a Penn 4500 Spinfisher that I dunked once and the reel is shot; been to Penn 3 times for repairs decided not to send for 4th time and bought the “Diawa”.
