Since August of last year, Women Anglers on the Florida Sportsman Forum have been enjoying a new space to share fishing stories, outdoor adventures, and speak about those outdoors and conservation issues that may have special significance to sportswomen in particular.
A vast change from the past version, which allowed men to post as well, the new Women Anglers of Florida Sportsman Forum is something special, it’s ladies only. A quick glance and you can see the excitement in the air. From charter captains and new boat owners, to those posting family fishing adventures, Women Anglers from all around are signing up to share and learn with others who enjoy the outdoors just as much as they do.
Florida Sportsman member FishyGirl took over in August as the new Women Anglers of Florida Sportsman Forum moderator and it’s obvious she’s excited to see the section grow.
“What is so nice about it is we are all just women talking fishing, the thing we love most. No requests for bikini shots, just us, chatting. We can inspire each other, give tips and ideas.”
In addition to online attractions like Florida Sportsman’s Women Anglers Forum, organizations such as “Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!” offer women anglers a chance to learn ethical angler habits, such as safe hook removal, release techniques, fish venting and more, from FWC educators and local fishing guides.
“Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!” will be at the Matlacha Community Center near Ft. Myers on March 8-9, with two more scheduled for this spring, including one in Dania Beach, April 11-13, and one in Stuart, May 16-18. To learn more, visit www.ladiesletsgofishing.com.
Ladies, get signed up and start sharing your outdoor adventures and experiences with the rest of the Women Anglers of Florida Sportsman community!
