The Florida Sportsman “No Motor Zone” forum recently held a contest that ran from August 13, 2012 until October 29, 2012. Dubbed the “NMZ Post It” contest, kayak anglers were encouraged to spend time posting helpful and interesting threads in an effort to help build the NMZ community. Every week, over a 12 week period, a winner was chosen based on how helpful and informative the post was for the community. Weekly winners were awarded a Sportsman’s Best: Kayak Fishing Book and DVD set, as well as entered into a drawing to win a brand new Penn Spinfisher V 6500 reel.
Peter Hinck, palmbeachpete, moderator of the NMZ, judged each winning post and selected the best of the best. The contest has officially come to an end and proved to be a great success, with 12 weekly winners and a grand prize winner. Here are the weekly winners as follows:
1. Captain Yak 8. Kayakangler
2. Stanandsnow 9. Shallow water assassin
3. Redfishchuck 10. Stalker1211
4. Mangohunter11 11. Native1

Florida Sportsman member shallow water assassin won the drawing for a brand new Penn Spinfisher V 6500 spinning reel. Original post by shallow water assassin below:
“So, I took my first trip up the the NMZ yesterday and man was it worth the two hour ride. I left town at 3 a.m. and made it to Kars Park with my buddy chobeeboys. Put the yaks in and headed north till it was day light. Started throwing a topwater around and the small trout bite was on, but that’s not what I came for, so I switched my topwater plug and hit the shallow grass flats. After about 30 minutes of chasing tailing reds, I hooked my first red ever, a 35-inch monster.
After calming down a bit I keep at it landing small trout here and there. Started to head back towards the park and the wind and rain started to roll in and the bite turned on and I got this 23-inch gator.
Started to throw the the topwater again and hooked in to two reds that just spooled me before pulling the hooks. I keep at it and got my second red, at 32 inches.
Finished the day with a cooler full of trout and and a keeper red that Jeff got. This was a day that I will never forget and I will be back for round two soon.”
