Marty McKagen looks pretty darn happy with his lobsters.
We’ve been hearing good lobster reports from the Keys and all South Florida so far this season. We’re also getting plenty of good images of big bugs taken up the East Coast by divers, but not nearly as many as reports from the Keys, of course, where just about everybody who swims goes lobstering at the start of the season.
FS member Marty McKagen, pictured with a few, spent four days at the start of the regular season around Sawyer Key and dove everyday and got their limit everyday, too. He said that out of all the lobster they caught, they only had to put back about 6 undersize ones. That is a great ratio of keepers to undersize bugs.
