Florida has datil peppers, first grown in the state near St. Augustine and commonly used by the Minorcan community there. They’re used in a variety of recipes, including straight-up hot sauce, like FS member stokes’ Datil Sauce. For most folks, that’s hot enough. The recipe is in the thread.
