Tarpon are thick along the East Coast of Florida. Monster pods are heading north and experienced kayak anglers are heading them off at local beaches. Most fish are in 10 to 40 feet of water. This angler launched during a fierce thunderstorm to catch a couple fish off Satellite Beach. Sometimes an old conventional reel, a bait bucket, a knife and a little bit of tackle is all that’s necessary to catch a silver king. During the video, notice when the screen goes white–that’s lightning strikes. Catching tarpon is fun, but we would not recommend targeting these fish during a lightning storm!
