Cinco de Mayo Spearing

Headed offshore from Marco with JoeSnook on Saturday looking for a limit of Red Groupers and we weren’t disappointed. Great weather, calm(ish) seas, and a hot bite. Put four keepers in the box via rod and reel, threw back a bunch of shorts, then strapped on the tanks and speared up the rest of our limit (plus some big grovers).

Left the house around 8 a.m. and put in a spread of 4 around 150 feet, trolled out to about 600 and didnt see anything, no good weedlines, no debris…nothing.  So we head back to around 100 feet and anchored up and started chumming, nothing! It’s my first day so maybe I’m still getting warmed up but it was slow [...]

We limited out. Shark Tales may look familiar to a lot of you. I was almost as stoked to drive that boat around as I was to shoot big fish. The most noteworthy thing I’d like to say about that day of diving was that my SD card was full before I shot my fish and I took it off of a school of at least 100 plus cobes following 1 shark…all 30 plus pounders. It was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen diving. Kyle from FL Freedivers said it best, “looked like a gigantic school of mullet swimming up from the bottom.” Mike wore the gopro for a long dive through some crevalle Jacks and it turned out rad [...]

The last couple weeks have been awesome with cobia action. The cobia are thick right now on the bulls….. Find the bulls and you will find the cobia! Morning started yesterday at 6am. We wanted to get some diving in before the front hit. Myself and 3 buddies headed out the inlet and it was very smooth ride to the cobia grounds. I was getting stoked as the water looked real blue and we jump in and its 100 ft viz! Also a raging north current at 3.5 knots [...]
