Scientific Anglers this week rolled out a pretty cool new series of tippet spools. The interlocking plastic wheels are built with UV-inhibiting plastic and include a built-in leader cutter. Freshwater, saltwater and fluorocarbon leaders are available in a wide range of sizes and tests. For a 22-yard spoon of 20-pound saltwater monofilament, expect to pay around $4.99. For a 27-yard spool of 20-pound fluoro, $17.50. Spools like this are a ubiquitous item in freshwater trout vests, but they’re pretty handy for wade-fishing in Florida waters, too–you can drop a spool in your shirt pocket, along with a few redfish or bonefish flies.
