Billy Pate Fishing Gear Auction May 19

The auction firm Oliver’s has announced the sale of the Historical Collection of the Late William “Billy” Pate, May 19, at his residence in Islamorada, at 1 p.m. Items include tackle, rods, reels, flies, record fish mounts and others, all going to the highest bidder. There will be a public preview on Friday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

    I never heard f having to pay to get into an auction before. I guess they want to keep out the riff-raff.

      The charge for the preview is to benefit Bonefish Tarpon Trust, which Billy was a founder.
