SHOW DESCRIPTION

Didn’t you momma always tell you to do well in school? Well little did you know she wasn’t talking about high school, she was talking about fishing! In this episode of Florida Sportsman, we examine schools of fish. Schools of baitfish find security in numbers and will often pack themselves into “balls of bait” when threatened by predators. This behavior plays right into the game plan of gamefish and makes dinner time quite a feast. How to fish around bait schools is looked at with editor Terry Gibson as he searches for trout under schools of mullet in the Mosquito Lagoon. Plus Jim Langone takes his family out into the Atlantic and knows that if he can find bait schools being shredded by Spanish mackerel or bonita, everyone on the boat will have a good time.

On the Conservation Front: Karl Wickstrom talks about his favorite grass: spartina and how this simple grass is crucial to healthy estuaries.
