LEGISLATIVE MATTERS
In many cases, it is the U.S. Congress that ultimately controls federal fishery policy. Every few years, Congress updates the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act. This legislation lays down the framework for the National Marine Fisheries Service and the regional councils. Comments on the Act and other fisheries-related legislation should be directed to your representatives in the U.S. Congress. Our two U.S. Senators, of course, represent the entire state. Both maintain offices in many Florida cities.
